We love a good festive treat in our house! Here are 8 of our favorite kid-friendly red or pink recipes that would be perfect for Valentine’s Day.
If you like to make holidays special with little ones, you might find something that catches your eye in this recipe roundup! Many of these recipes are lower in sugar and higher in fiber than the traditional version, but still just as fun to make and just as delicious!
I have quite a few red/pink recipes on Healthyish Appetite so I made it simple and put them all here, in one place. Click the photo to go straight to the full recipe or scroll for more details.
White Chocolate Raspberry Cookies
These cookies combine fresh juicy raspberries with silky smooth white chocolate in a wholesome whole grain breakfast-like cookie. A perfect little treat that’s a little lower in sugar.
Strawberry Overnight Oats with Coconut Milk
If you need a breakfast change-up, these fit the bill and it’s impossible not to love them. Coconut milk adds elite creaminess, and a smashed strawberry topping and toasted coconut flake brings it all together. What a special Valentine’s Day breakfast this would be!
PB&J Oatmeal Bites
Oatmeal balls, energy bites, whatever you like to call them… they are a total staple in our snack rotation and it’s nice to mix up the flavors to keep things fresh. These call for freeze-dried strawberries which add a nice flavor and pop of red color. We love them!
Raspberry Lemon Chia Jam
This is another recipe I make on repeat. It’s essentially a fruit spread with the added nutritional benefit of chia seeds and is light on added sugar. I’ve made it with cane sugar, maple syrup and coconut sugar and all work perfectly. My jam-obsessed preschooler loves this on toast or mixed into yogurt or cottage cheese.
Ricotta Toast with Blood Oranges
This is a unique twist on toast that’s perfect for citrus season. Blood oranges have a beautiful vibrant color and they pair well with creamy ricotta, crunchy pistachios and a drizzle of honey for sweetness. A truly sophisticated afternoon snack!
White Chocolate and Raspberry Blondies
I love the chew factor of blondies so much. These are made with tahini instead of butter, and a mix of whole wheat and almond flours to make them a little more nutritious. They also freeze well.
Strawberry Banana Peanut Butter Smoothie
This might be the most kid-friendly smoothie out there! It reminds me of a PB&J and is a beautiful soft pink color (skip the optional cinnamon to prevent it from having a brownish tint). Red and pink striped straws add a fun touch.
Strawberry Dark Chocolate Oat Bars
Strawberries and chocolate are such a classic combination. These bars make an excellent lunchbox treat and are also wholesome enough to serve with breakfast. I cut them into 18 triangles and freeze half right away to keep them nice and fresh.
