This blackberry strawberry banana smoothie is the ultimate summer combo. Using a mixture of fresh and frozen fruit gives the best consistency and flavor. And the color is simply gorgeous!
Just call me the smoothie queen this summer! I can’t stop making them. They are so much more versatile than you think. I love a smoothie for breakfast, a light lunch when it’s hot outside, a refreshing (portable!) snack or even a dessert. The key is tailoring the ingredients to whatever you need.
For this beautiful blackberry strawberry banana smoothie, a combination of fresh and frozen fruit really makes the most perfect consistency and a subtly smooth flavor.
Here’s what you’ll need to make it:
Ingredients
- blackberries
- strawberries
- frozen banana
- whole milk plain Greek yogurt (my favorites are siggi’s 4% or Fage 5%)
- soy milk (plain, unsweetened)
- optional (not pictured): a squeeze of honey – I think it makes a huge difference!
There’s something about a mixed berry smoothie that is just so classic. You really don’t need to doctor it up with much, because you want the flavor of the fresh fruit to come through.
Fresh or Frozen Fruit in a Smoothie
I typically recommend using frozen fruit in smoothies because it not only adds creaminess, but it also keeps the smoothie really cold without adding ice (which tends to water it down).
This smoothie calls for a mix of fresh berries for great flavor, and frozen banana for the texture. Sometimes frozen berries can be a bit bland!
FAQs: Blackberry Strawberry Banana Smoothie
If you love the flavor of blackberries but hate drinking the seeds, pour it through a fine mesh strainer before drinking.
Absolutely! I love the flavor, thickness and nutrition profile from unsweetened soy milk but any of your favorites will work here. You may need to adjust the sweetness based on what you choose.
Swap in your favorite non-dairy yogurt (the thicker the better) and use maple syrup instead of honey for the sweetener, if you need it.
I’m totally loving the simple smoothie combos lately and this one does not disappoint! Give it a try the next time you’re craving something fresh and vibrant. It’s a total feel-good smoothie.

A very simply recipe that is absolutely delicious. i did not have fresh strawberries, so i substituted a couple of spoons of strawberry preserves and I used almond milk instead of the soy milk. The result…. oh so good on a hot June day.
